12 Days of Christmas - Day 12

The last day… it has been fun sharing things with you the past week and a half and hard to believe that it is truly the LAST day! So, I picked some quick easy gifts for those people who you didn’t MEAN to forget. As my gift to you, I am going to give you a quick tutorial of how to make the post-it holder!

There are 2 post–it holders that are super simple to make. And a quick Kit Kat snowman that takes almost no time and just punches (1 1/4” square punch, Word Window punch, Boho Blossoms punch, both tag punches).

Post-It Holder

Whisper White cardstock – 7 3/8” x 3 1/4”
Gable Green cardstock – 1” x 3 1/8”
Whisper White scraps
Gable Green ink
Apricot Appeal ink
Circle Circus stamp set
Scallop circle punch
1 1/4” circle punch
3/4” circle punch
Sticky Strip tape

With the 7 3/8” side on the top of your trimmer, score your Whisper White cardstock at 3 1/8”, 3 1/2” and 3 7/8”. The 3 1/8” piece is the front of your holder.

Choose a couple of stamps from the stamp set to randomly stamp on the entire cover. Now fold on your score lines; to get a crisp fold, I recommend using a bone folder. Fold on the center line (the 3 1/2”) and with your scissors cut a slit 1” from the bottom from the side fold to the next fold line. Repeat this from the top. This makes the slit necessary to hold the pen.

Open up the holder and on the long back portion (the 3 7/8”) place 2 strips of Sticky Strip on the top 1” and the bottom 1”, leaving the center without any tape. Remove the adhesive and stick the folded section down. Pop out your center section that did not have any tape and you have your pen holder.

For the cover, tape down the 1” piece of Gable Green in the center. Take the scalloped circle in the Circle Circus set and stamp it once in Gable Green and once in Apricot Appeal. Punch out the 3/4” circle first out of the Apricot Appeal, then punch the scalloped circle. Punch out a 1 1/4” from the Gable Green. Layer these medallions on top of each other and using a dimensional stick to the Gable Green strip.

Now you just need to use Sticky Strip to adhere your post-it pad to the inside and slip your pen in the holder

12 Days of Christmas – Day 7

I received lots of fun goodies this week at school, so I made some quick little (yes, they are only 3 inches!) Thank You cards using the Stampin’ Up! Thank You embosslit that is on special this week.  It was quite fun to make them.  It is almost magic when you pull out the die and open it up and find a tiny little cut AND embossed embellishment.  002 [1600x1200]

Enjoy this one!  I’ll be posting a new embosslit I just got in a ‘toy box’ yesterday

Camera woes

So, my camera is waiting for a replacement part for my charger, so I can't take any new photos. So, I thought I would share some cards I made from last month that never made it to my blog. Enjoy!
The first card uses a set in the Holiday Mini - Twick or Tweet. The colors I used are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant. I also cut out the card with the Scallop Circle Bigz Die.
This card is one of my favorite holiday cards. I love the subtleness of the colors. I used Night of Navy, Sage Shadow and Bordering Blue. The stamp is one from the new Hostess set in the Holiday Mini - Patterned Pines. I love how much the lace border punch adds to the card.
This last sample was using the Pumkpin Patch set from the new Holiday Mini. I have had so much fun with it. I will take photos and show you the many things you can do with this set later. The colors were a much calmer pallet than the typical - I used Apricot Appeal and Garden Green. I love how Stampin' Up! has punches that layer so well. I used actually 3 punches for the greeting; Designer Label, Word Window and Modern Label.

Color Challenge Results

I really like how the cards came out. This one was for the chocolate chip, more than mustard, regal rose, and old olive. I used the Medallion stamp (LOVE IT!)

This other card was for the other color challenge using Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede. It was calling Christmas to me. I used the new set Delightful Decorations and the new Ornament punch.

My color challenge card

Here is the card I put together with the color challenge.  I always try to think outside the box with stamps and punches to get them to go further.  I saw the ornament punch and thought to myself that it looked a bit like a kissing fish; so here he is.

I used Delightful Decorations and the Ornament Punch from the Holiday Mini Catalog and the fins were made with the 5 petal punch.

Challenges from today

Here is my card for the first color challenge -

Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red and Close to Cocoa

I used 2 of the new stamp sets in the mini; Pumpkin Patch and Greatful Greetings. I also used a texture plate on the Pumpkin Pie and inked on top of it to add some dimension.

The second card is for the other color challenge -

Rich Razzleberry, Pale Plum, Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay.

This card also used a stamp in the new Holiday Mini, Serene Snowflakes and Teeny Tiny Wishes from the main idea book. This is a great card to show versatility in the stamp sets - this does not have to be thought of as a 'snowflake' set!

Remember to always think outside the box when it comes to stamps! You can create endlessly.

Color Challenges

I have 2 color challenges for you today. The first one is a fall combination -

The second is a fabulous combination that makes me smile - I think I see some Holiday cards coming in this combination.
I will post some samples later today. GO CREATE!

These are the cards I demo'd today at my stamp club. They were all so fun to show and as usual it was great to be with fabulous creative friends!

This one is from the set Trendy Trees. The colors are Old Olive, Pumkpin Pie, Baroque Burgundy, and Basic Black. I used lots of punches on this one too; round tab, spiral, word window, and the designer label.

This one is from the 5th Ave Floral set. The colors are Basic Black, Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery and Lovely Lilac.

Some Asian Artistry Cards

At first when I saw this set, I wasn't completely convinced I loved it. But the more I dazed upon it, I fell in love! I can see so many possibilities with this gentle watercolor style stamp. I hope you enjoy the cards!
